Black Bean and Grain Burgers

One thing that just brings comfort to me is a good burger.  I have been trying to come up with a good recipe for some time now and  I really like this one.  I actually had a bit of the cheez sauce leftover from the baked macaroni and cheez recipe I made earlier in the week.  This cheeze went very well on top of these burgers.  They actually reminded me of a White Castle slider without the processed meat and fat.   With my simple freezing technique I blogged about earlier today for grains and legumes you can whip this one up in no time.  Great for a midweek dinner.

1 1/2 c cooked black beans or canned
1/2 c  cooked pinto beans or canned
1/2 t garlic powder
2 T tomato paste
1 c consisting of equal parts teff, amaranth and quinoa 
2 T low sodium tamari
1/2 cup canned or frozen corn

1.  Add all ingredients to a food processor and pulse to combine.  The mixture should be combined and bind together easily.
2.  Form into patties.
3.  Spray a non-stick skillet with cooking oil and cook each patty on medium heat until golden on each side.
4.  Place on top of bun (I use whole wheat dinner rolls) and top with condiments such as lettuce, tomato, onion, etc.
