Morning Beverage of Choice

When I was a little girl my grandparents lived with us.  One of my fondest memories was the mornings I would spend with my grandfather talking about life’s mysteries over coffee.  Yes, coffee.  My grandfather used to make me a special version with 50% canned milk, 50% strong coffee and lots and lots of sugar.  It is just what every 5 year old needs first thing in the morning. Not exactly, but to this day I still love my coffee sweet with lots of milk.  I have created much  healthier version with the recipe listed below:

Coffee with Fresh Almond Milk
6 ounces warmed almond milk
6 ounces of fresh French Pressed coffee
1 packet of stevia extract  

1.  Warm milk
2. Stir in stevia extract
3.  add fresh hot coffee

Almond Milk
3/4 c organic whole almonds, soaked 8-24 hours
4 cups of pure water
2 T agave nectar
2 t pure vanilla extract

Soak the almonds overnight.  Rinse and add to blender with agave nectar and vanilla extract.  Blend 3-5 minutes.  Strain through sieve and cheese cloth.  Drink and enjoy.   It will stay fresh refrigerated for 3-5 days.
